Oct. 28 is National Drug Take Back Day

Harney District Hospital (HDH), Safeway & Boy Scout Troop 441 are teaming up to invite you to safely dispose of unused or expired medications from 1 – 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28 at the emergency entrance of the hospital (557 W. Washington, Burns.)

The first 30 people to bring in medications will receive a free pillbox courtesy of Safeway!

HDH is now offering a safe and economical way to dispose of unused and/or expired medication, including narcotics, non-controlled and over-the-counter medications. This MedSafe receptacle is an unused, ultimate-user medication disposal system, located just inside the emergency entrance of the hospital. Items can be placed into it using the top medication-drop door. You can come to the emergency entrance at HDH 24/7 to use the MedSafe receptacle.

The following items are NOT accepted: illegal drugs, liquid containers containing more than four ounces (place the container with anything four ounces or less into a plastic bag prior to dropping into the receptacle), sharps containers, needles, syringes, batteries, aerosol spray cans, garbage, medical devices, chemicals, and other hazardous materials.

For more information, contact the HDH Pharmacy at 541-573-8340.
