Tickets can be purchased July 15 – Aug. 10 at Yekel’s Repair, 244 Hines Blvd, Burns (541-573-2704), the CAN Cancer office, 557 W. Washington St., Burns (541-573-8614), or directly from Craig Yekel (541-413-0850) or Ed Moulton (541-589-2437).
The drawing will be held on Sunday, Aug. 11 at 5 p.m. via Facebook Live. The winner will be contacted that evening.
All proceeds stay local and benefit CAN Cancer of Harney County, a program that provides financial assistance for non-medical expenses for Harney County residents fighting cancer, in memory of Janet Yekel.
Official Rules and Regulations:
The winner will be awarded the ability to drive the car in the derby and pit passes for the driver and one crew member. Winner must provide a helmet, gloves, and any safety gear you choose to wear during the drive. A male winner will have the option to allow a Powder Puff (female heat) driver and drive in the main or drive the heat and the main. A female winner will have the option to allow a male driver to drive in the main or drive in the main themselves.
Driver or drivers must have a valid driver’s license or learner’s permit and sign liability waivers. Participants under the age of 18 will need a parent or guardian to sign a consent form. Driver or drivers will be responsible for following the arena and fairgrounds rules. All repairs after the heat will be taken care of by volunteers with no guarantee that the vehicle will make the main event.
