CAN Cancer of Harney County hosted an Alice in Wonderland themed Sip for the Cure tea party Saturday, Feb. 18, in the Memorial Building at the Harney County Fairgrounds.

The event raised funds to provide financial support for local cancer patients who must travel to seek treatment.

A total of 130 people turned out to support this worthwhile cause. Some even dressed in Alice in Wonderland themed costumes! In addition to tea, hors d’oeuvres, and decadent desserts, the tea party featured a dessert auction and door prizes.

Attendees were also encouraged to memorialize loved ones who lost their lives to cancer by writing their names on flowers and pinning them to the Garden of Memories. The “garden” also featured messages of support/encouragement for those who are currently receiving cancer treatment as well as messages of celebration for cancer survivors.

CAN Cancer is overwhelmed by the generosity of the community and appreciates everyone who donated desserts and raffle items; volunteered to help with setup, take down, and serving; donated funds; loaned items; and attended this memorable event. CAN Cancer would like to extend a special thank you to the Burns High School leadership class for providing such excellent table service.

Stay tuned for more information about CAN Cancer’s upcoming events.
